How sign-in codes by text work for the McCarthy Law client portal.

Written and reviewed by Bob McCarthy, licensed in Montana state and federal courts. Last reviewed November 8, 2026. General information, not legal advice.

What we send

McCarthy Law, P.C. sends a one-time 6-digit sign-in code by text, and only to clients who choose text codes in our secure client portal. We do not send marketing, reminders or any other texts from this program.

How you sign up

In the client portal, you enter your mobile number and tick a box agreeing to receive sign-in codes by text. The box is never ticked for you. Choosing texts is optional; an authenticator app works instead.

How often

One text each time you set up the second sign-in step, sign in on a new device, or ask for a new code.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile phone plan. We do not charge for the texts.

Help and stopping texts

Reply HELP for help, or call (406) 494-2500. Reply STOP to stop texts at any time. After you stop texts, you can sign in with an authenticator app.

Your mobile number

We use your mobile number only to send sign-in codes. We do not sell or share mobile numbers or text-message consent with anyone for marketing. See our privacy policy.

Delivery

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
